If for any reason a bus or van is expected to be more than 15 min. late for a scheduled pick-up or drop-off, parents/guardians at the pick-up or drop-off site will be informed by an authorized person. Then, depending on the circumstances, alternate transportation plans will be agreed upon if necessary.

Should a child become ill on a bus or van riding to or from camp, a designated staff member on the vehicle will attend to the camper and determine what action to take. If the vehicle arrives at camp, the health supervisor will be notified by the staff member and will take
appropriate action. If the vehicle is transporting to a drop-off point, the parent/guardian will be notified upon arrival or before.

5. ACCIDENTS REQUIRING PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CARE
Designated staff members will take the following steps in case of vehicle accident:

  • Call the police.
  • Call for emergency assistance if there are injured.
  • Call the camp director for health form information.
  • Make certain that one staff person stays with the campers.
  • Make no statements to anyone but the police. The camp director will inform the parent/guardians of those campers involved in the accident as quickly as possible. A designated person will go either to the accident site or to the hospital, depending on the need, to be sure that all necessary medical records and permission forms accompany the injured.
